A wet morning doesn’t stop the Sunday Spin, because when you partake in outdoor activities there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. So with all dressed in the appropriate clothing, off we headed in the direction of New Inn.
Anyone who has pedalled a bicycle will know and appreciate, that at times ones derrière may become uncomfortable. But with modern technology this problem has decreased significantly. Saddles and clothing have improved immensely. But one club member doesn’t seem to be keeping up with these improvements, as was visible on Sunday. Due in part to the heavy rain encountered and / or excessive embrocation, one of our members had taken to foaming from the opposite end. He’s been duly warned of such behaviour and instructed to update his technology.
On reaching New Inn and after discussion, it was decided that the over embrocated member would take up conductor duty at the rear of the bunch for the remainder of the spin. Onwards to Golden in wind and rain we continued, with little comment, apart from the odd jibe about bubbles and foam. Left in Golden heading in the direction of Tipperary, rain still pouring down and the conversation in full flow once more. A quick turn left after Golden and onto Bansha, where everyone knew a smooth road surface and tailwind awaited. Through Bansha village, with the pace starting to rise the rain finally abated.
Passing quickly through Cahir a check to the rear of the group to ensure all were aboard the speeding train and that the foaming conductor was still present. All aboard we headed for home.Passing Barne Lodge it was noticed that the foaming conductor had forced his way up through the group and was positioning himself for the final gallop into town. Gallop he did, and as Paul remarked,” he’s foaming like a race horse, but from the wrong end “. Back in Clonmel after a very wet but extremely enjoyable 70km cycle, all looking
